Directions
Sloan Lake is the biggest lake in Denver, and at 177 acres. Sloan’s Lake Park is the city’s second largest park. It’s one of the best parks for catching a sunset, with stunning views of the Rocky Mountains and Denver skyline.
The race will be staged from the parking lot at W 17th Ave and Utica St. To get there, travel north on Utica St from Colfax Ave.
Parking
The parking lot at W 17th and Utica will be closed on race morning. You can park in the neighborhood to the south of the park. Please respect our Sloan’s Lake Park neighbors by obeying all parking signs and leaving no trace throughout and around the park.

You can also pick up your race packet on race morning at the race site. Race day packet pick-up closes at the start of the last race.
Course Info
The race will utilize a the paved bike trails around Sloan’s Lake Park. Bicycles, skateboards, and roller skates are not allowed in the race.
Awards
There will be an awards ceremony near the finish line after the race. Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winner in each race as well as the top three in each age group. Age groups are as follows:
5K: 9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29…… up to 80 and over
Can’t make it to the race?
Can’t make it to one of our races on race morning but still want to participate or support our charity? Then choose the virtual option when registering. Virtual packets will include a shirt, medal and bib number and will be shipped to you free of charge. Click here for more info on our virtual run option.

Weather & Safety Issues
We all know that the weather in Colorado is day to day. The race will be run no matter what the weather! Bicycles, skateboards, roller skates are not allowed in the race.

What if I can’t run the race?
Cancellation & Refund Policy
Entry fees are non-refundable under any circumstances. If the event is postponed or cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., natural disasters or safety concerns), you will receive a 100% credit toward another event produced by Colorado Runner Events. Event details are subject to change without notice.
Transfer & Deferral Options
Entries and bib numbers are non-transferable without permission. Up until 11:59 PM the Monday before the race, you may make any of the following changes for a $10 fee:
- Transfer your entry to another person
- Transfer your entry to another Colorado Runner Events race
- Defer your entry to next year’s race
Virtual Race Option
You can switch to the “virtual race” free of charge to have your packet mailed to you. This option is available until 7:00 AM the Wednesday before the race. After this deadline, please use the contact form below.
How to Manage Your Entry
Manage your entry by clicking the “manage your registration” link in your confirmation email or through your RunSignUp profile page.
Note: In RunSignUp, “race” refers to a different race date, while “event” refers to a specific distance (e.g., 5K or 10K) within the same race.

Will the race be cancelled or postponed due to inclement weather?
Colorado Runner Events will not be cancel or postpone an event due to cold temperatures, snow, rain, wind or any other inclement weather.
I didn’t get a confirmation email!
First, check your junk email box. If you cannot find it there, check your credit card statement to be sure that your credit card was charged. If it was and you cannot find your confirmation email, please click here. This will allow you to either login or create an account to resend your confirmation email.

My results are not showing up online.
We are sorry to hear that your results are not showing up online. Sometimes, there is a malfunction with the timing tag attached to your bib. Our race timer, HAL Sports, uses multiple back up systems in case this happens. Please click here to contact them and they will respond to your inquiry and post your results. Their staff is out timing races on the weekends, so someone may not respond until they are back in the office.
I placed in my age group. How do I get my award?

Are dogs allowed?
We do allow dogs to run with runners. Please start at the back of the pack or on the outside if you are running with your dog. All dogs within the park must be leashed at all times and dogs running with runners must be confined to a six foot leash or shorter. No retractable leashes are allowed in the race.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes.
Can I wear headphones?
Headphones are discouraged as you may not be able to hear faster runners coming from behind you.
Can I walk the race?
Yes, you may walk any distance at any of our events, as long as you can finish within the time limit if there is one.
Can I use roller skates or roller blades?
Roller skates, roller blades, bikes, skateboards and other items with wheels are not allowed in the race.
Is there a time limit?
There is no time limit for this 5K.
