  • Start Time

    Due to the narrow nature of the course at Sloan’s Lake Park, we will be running waves at the Cookie Chase 5K. You will start based on your estimated finish time.

    5K (under 27:00) – 8:00 AM
    5K (27:00 – 40:00) – 8:05 AM
    5K (over 40:00) – 8:10 AM

  • Awards

    The race will be chip timed by HAL Sports and results and placements will be posted online. There will be an awards ceremony near the finish line after the race.

    Awards will be presented to the overall male and female winner in each race. Gift Certificates from Runner’s Roost will be awarded to the top three male and female in each age group. Gift certificates will be valid at all Denver Metro Runner’s Roost stores. Age group are as follows:

    9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29…… up to 80 and over

  • USATF Colorado 5K Championships

    This year, the Cookie Chase is the USATF Colorado 5K Championship and the first race of the USATF Colorado Grand Prix.

    At each of the five (5) Colorado championship races, athletes and clubs will earn Grand Prix points that will accumulate through the year towards a year-end point total.

    In 2023 there is a USATF Colorado Grand Prix series for both individuals and clubs with a total of $9500 in prize money available.

    In the Individual Grand Prix athletes will compete in the Open and Masters divisions.  In the Masters division age-graded performance scoring will be utilized at each championship race so that athletes from 40 yrs. to 100 yrs. will be competing against each other for the masters grand prix points

    In the Club Grand Prix the club’s five best age graded performance scores at each championship will be used to determine the club grand prix points.

  • Virtual Run Option

    This race can be run virtually if you choose. Please choose the virtual race option when registering. Virtual packets will include a shirt, medal and bib number and will be shipped to you free of charge. Click here for more info on our virtual run option.

  • Weather & Safety Issues

    We all know that the weather in Colorado is day to day. The race will be run no matter what the weather!

    Bicycles, skateboards, roller skates are not allowed in the race.
